Mr. Goldfried's practice emphasizes a wide variety of labor and employment law matters on behalf of employers. Mr. Goldfried spends approximately half of his time counseling employers on employment issues that arise during the day-today operation of their businesses, advising employers as to how to comply with the ever-changing requirements of labor and employment law, and conducting in-house training seminars. Mr. Goldfried spends the other half of his time defending employers against claims of employment discrimination, sexual harassment, wrongful termination, constructive discharge, unpaid overtime, breach of contract, defamation, emotional distress, etc. He regularly appears in both state and federal courts, in arbitrations, and before state and federal administrative agencies. Mr. Goldfried graduated from the Boston University School of Law (J.D. 1974, cum laude), where he was also a member of the Law Review, and the University of Illinois (B.A.1966, with honors), where he was elected to membership in Phi Beta Kappa. He served with distinction as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy from 1966-1971, and was awarded a Navy Commendation Medal. Mr. Goldfried frequently addresses employer and community groups on employment issues, and has been a guest lecturer in university-level management courses. He has been a contributor to a number of human resource publications, including the California/Federal Personnel Law Update and the Hiring & Discharge Compliance Report.
